Bucks County Biographer Oana Nechita to Teach Women’s Memoir Class in Doylestown

Dates: April, 7th - 28th - 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Every Monday)
FEE: $120

Bucks County biographer Oana Nechita is taking her memory-writing workshop on the road.  Last year, Nechita led a group of seniors through a memoir-writing class at Wesley Enhanced Living’s Heritage Towers.  Now, she’s been invited to teach a writing class designed specifically for women at Doylestown’s Writers Corner.

“I never dreamed that the idea for a memoir class would be so well received,” said Nechita.  “I’m honored and excited to begin this special class for women in the Doylestown community.”

In the four-week class, Nechita and her students will explore the unique way that women relate to the world.  Together, they will share common life stories, learn various writing techniques and simply enjoy each other’s company.

The class will take place each Monday night in April, beginning on April 7 and ending on April 28.  The class runs from 6:30pm until 8:00pm.  The cost for the entire course is $120, which includes participation and materials.  Space is limited to 15 participants.  Interested women can contact Laurel Cook at 215-230-1070 or visit the Writers Corner website at www.writerscornerusa.com.

Nechita’s weekly memoir class at Heritage Towers last fall was met with great enthusiasm.  She was amazed each week by the effort and time that each resident put into the course.

“The residents at Heritage Towers were very eager to share their stories and pass them on to their families,” Nechita said.  “I hope the women who take this special class will see it as an opportunity to share their legacy with enthusiasm and have great fun along the way.”

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR - Nechita’s local business, Bucks Biographer, LLC, helps Bucks County residents commit their family history to paper.  She takes no credit for their memoirs, insisting that her role is simply to bring out the stories and rich details of their lives and craft the writing of their book.  Nechita is originally from Romania, and currently resides in Doylestown.  She has published poetry and memoirs in literary journals in the U.S. and abroad, and is currently at work on a book-length memoir.  Her website is www.BucksBiographer.com .

Write Your Memories

Survive the Holidays With Memory Writing

Date & Time: 7-9 PM, Tuesday evening, November 20.

Life story writing may even give you new reasons to be thankful at Thanksgiving.

What we'll cover:

  • What makes the Tribal Gathering so darned complex?
  • Why stories are so powerful to help wire your heart to your brain?
  • Penetrate the background noise and connect with individuals.
  • Enter the role of story gatherer to break old patterns.
  • Use stories to connect you to the ones who aren't there.
