Novels for Young Writers

NOVELS FOR YOUNG WRITERS WITH Jonathan Maberry

DATE/TIME: 1st and 3rd Wednesday of Each Month , 4-5:30 pm. Note: Classes will not be held during the summer. They will resume in September.

FEE: Open to young writers age 14 and older. The program fee is $75.00 per month (two 90-minute class per month, plus online group).

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This program is modeled after our highly successful "Write Your Novel in 9 Months" program. In this series, the young writers will meet twice a month at the Writers Corner with Jonathan Maberry, author of 20 books. At the beginning of the program students will learn how to develop their story ideas into workable outlines; and over the course of the school year will work them into completed first drafts of a Young Adult novel.

This program will help aspiring writers make a serious step toward breaking into the writing business. The market is hungry for books for kids written by kids (as seen with Eragon, the bestseller written by a teenager, Christopher Paolini).

Bonus! In addition, a top New York literary agent has agreed to read books from the program.

INSTRUCTOR: Jonathan Maberry has been a professional writer for nearly thirty years and is the author of over a dozen nonfiction books and several novels including the bestselling Ghost Road Blues (Pinnacle Books). He has also sold more than 900 articles, numerous short stories, plays, poetry, greeting cards, workshop packets, training materials, instructional posters, and video scripts. Jonathan is a founding partner of the Writers Corner USA, the Executive Director of Career Doctor for Writers, and co-founder of the Wild River Review, a literary online magazine. Jonathan is a Board Member of the Philadelphia Writers Conference, a member of the Mystery Writers of America, the Horror Writers Association, and a speaker for the National Writers Union. He is frequent workshop leader for writers' conferences (University of Pennsylvania, Greater Lehigh Valley Writers Conference, PennWriters, etc.); and often lectures at colleges.
